"Firefighter's Helmet" Hard-ground Print-Printmaking

For yet another given project in an undergraduate printmaking course, the objective was to come up with imagery for a hard-ground etched print. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 and classes being held remotely, we ended up creating a digital print using photoshop instead. Prior to transitioning to remote learning, I had gotten to the point where I was making test prints through the printing press. The image was of a firefighter’s helmet that belongs to my older brother. Using photoshop, I was able to add lots of different textures to the helmet and the face shield using the pen tool. I chose my brother’s firefighter helmet as my image because I’m proud of his volunteer service and because he’s always telling me how much he enjoys my artwork. I gave him the finished project and know he was touched by it.
